Over 10,000 qualified applicants in Denmark have been rejected from all the higher education programs they applied to this year. This figure represents a 12% increase compared to the previous year, according to data from the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
Specifically, 10,693 qualified applicants were denied admission, up from 9,589 the year before. A qualified applicant is defined as someone who meets the requirements for admission but is not accepted due to limited space and higher demand.
The Ministry’s data also reveals application patterns among the rejected candidates. Nearly half, 45%, had applied for only one program. Around 22% applied for two different educations, while the remaining 32% had applied for three or more programs.
Rejected applicants still have a chance to gain admission through a subsequent round for vacant study places. They can re-apply and potentially fill any spots that remain open after the initial admission process.
