Denmark is bracing for a day of widespread rain and potential thunderstorms on Thursday, with some regions facing the risk of heavy downpours.
The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) has issued risk warnings for several areas, particularly the eastern parts of Zealand, as well as Lolland, Falster, and Møn, where localized rainfall could reach 25 to 35 millimeters within a six-hour period.
Northern Jutland is also under threat of thunderstorms and local cloudbursts, with the possibility of 15 to 25 millimeters of rain falling in just 30 minutes.
According to Lars Henriksen, a meteorologist at DMI, the unstable atmospheric conditions are due to a combination of warm air moving north from the south and an approaching cold front.
Bornholm is currently the only area covered by an actual DMI warning as of Thursday morning.
DMI is closely monitoring the situation, noting that even slight shifts in the weather patterns could significantly impact the severity of the rainfall in the eastern regions. The risk warnings are in effect from Thursday afternoon and will continue throughout the evening.
