HB Køge Strengthens Women’s Football Team with Key Signings from English Clubs

HB Køge’s women’s football team has significantly bolstered its squad with the acquisition of Mille Gejl and Rikke Marie Madsen, both returning from English football. The club aims to reclaim its dominance in the Danish league after a period of being overtaken by competitors.

Mille Gejl, a 25-year-old offensive player, brings valuable international experience to HB Køge, having played abroad for several years, most recently with Crystal Palace. Gejl boasts an impressive record of 36 national team appearances.

“I am super happy to be here and to have the opportunity to be part of the project that is underway at the club,” said Gejl. “A strong foundation has been laid, and I am really looking forward to contributing both on and off the field.”

Rikke Marie Madsen, a 27-year-old winger, also returns to Denmark after a stint in England with Everton. Madsen has represented Denmark in 33 national team matches, scoring one goal.

“I am really happy to be here, and I am really looking forward to it,” said Madsen. “It seems like an exciting and ambitious project that I am looking forward to being a part of.”

Both Gejl and Madsen have joined the team in Kansas City, USA, for pre-season preparations. The players are focused on integrating with their new teammates and building strong relationships both on and off the field.

HB Køge previously achieved a remarkable feat, winning the Danish championship three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023. With the addition of Gejl and Madsen, the team is now considered better positioned to compete for the title once again.
