GPS Jamming Disrupts Air Traffic Over Denmark

Air traffic near Denmark is experiencing ongoing disruptions due to GPS jamming and spoofing, impacting navigation systems of aircraft. For 78 days in the past year, electronic interference has reached the airspace over Bornholm, with arriving planes in Copenhagen reporting jamming incidents several times a week.

Naviair, the entity responsible for managing Denmark’s civilian airspace, receives frequent reports from aircraft encountering disruptions caused by GPS jamming and spoofing, a sub-variant that falsifies GPS signals.

Denmark, along with other nations, has lodged complaints with the UN regarding Russian GPS jamming, but the interference persists. It is speculated that cutting off Denmark from navigation signals would require the use of Tobol systems capable of disrupting multiple GPS satellites simultaneously.
