Frederik Vesti Disappointed After Cadillac Chooses Experienced Drivers for 2026 F1 Team

Frederik Vesti has expressed his frustration after Cadillac announced Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez as their drivers for the 2026 Formula 1 season. The Danish racing driver had hoped to secure a seat with the American manufacturer.

Vesti, who currently drives sports cars for Cadillac in the IMSA series, felt that this was a prime opportunity to enter Formula 1. He stated that he was in close dialogue with key figures at Cadillac, making the decision particularly disappointing.

While respecting the experience and achievements of Bottas and Perez, both of whom have won Grand Prix for Mercedes and Red Bull, Vesti expressed his disappointment that Cadillac opted for established drivers rather than investing in young talent. He believes that while the experienced drivers might provide a strong start, the team would ultimately benefit more from the potential of a younger driver in the long run.

Vesti has been actively pursuing a Formula 1 seat for several years, even serving as a reserve driver for Mercedes. He acknowledges that very few changes were made in the driver lineup between 2023 and 2024, limiting his opportunities. Despite this setback, Vesti remains determined to continue networking and seeking opportunities in the Formula 1 paddock in the lead-up to the 2027 season.
