A 28-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder in a custody hearing held at the Court in Lyngby this Thursday morning. He is the fourth suspect to be charged in connection with the case.
The man, who was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon, joins two other men, ages 27 and 28, already in custody since early July, and a 15-year-old Swedish national in facing charges related to plotting an attempted murder. The intended victim remains unknown to law enforcement.
Prosecutor Cecilie Quist announced Thursday afternoon that the 28-year-old will be held in custody until August 13. The initial arrests of the other three suspects were made by the National Unit for Special Crime (NSK) on July 1 and shortly after midnight on July 2.
All four suspects are accused of acquiring a H9 pistol with ammunition and an electric scooter intended for use by the 15-year-old Swede in carrying out the attempted murder. The plan was thwarted by their arrests.
The 15-year-old Swede was taken into custody on the afternoon of July 1 in an apartment located in Værløse. Authorities discovered a loaded pistol within the residence.
The hearing was held behind closed doors. Specific details regarding the evidence against the 28-year-old and his defense have not been disclosed.
The 27-year-old, currently incarcerated, participated in the court hearing via video link from Vestre Prison.
The 28-year-old appearing in court Thursday is protected by a name ban, as requested by his attorney, Jan Torp Hansen. The same protection applies to the other three defendants.
Authorities believe additional individuals may have been involved in the plot. The indictment indicates that the attempted murder preparations involved several unidentified accomplices.
