A four-month-old infant has died from injuries sustained in an aggravated violence case, according to police reports. The parents, a couple from Central Zealand, were arrested and remanded in custody over the weekend in connection with the incident.

The child passed away despite receiving hospital treatment, as confirmed by police on Monday evening. The father is accused of inflicting the violence, while the mother is charged with complicity for allegedly failing to intervene despite being aware of the abuse.

During a court hearing on Sunday, both parents were ordered to be held in custody until June 19. They have both pleaded not guilty and have appealed the decision to the High Court.

The case remains under investigation. Upon completion, prosecutors will determine whether to proceed with an indictment and bring the matter to court for a final decision based on the evidence.
