Four Long-Range Drones Headed to Danish Defence to Bolster Arctic and North Atlantic Surveillance

Denmark is set to enhance its surveillance capabilities in the Arctic and North Atlantic regions with the acquisition of four long-range drones. According to recent statements from the Ministry of Defence, these drones are on their way to the Danish Defence.

The procurement is part of an agreement facilitated through NATO’s procurement organization. The acquisition is being financed through the Acceleration Fund, in addition to funds from previous political agreements.

The drones are of the MQ-9B SkyGuardian type. The Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) has described the acquisition as “a milestone in the construction of Danish surveillance capabilities in the Arctic and North Atlantic.”

Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen (V) stated that it is crucial for the Armed Forces to stay updated with the evolving security policy situation. The drones will significantly contribute to these efforts.
