Former “Paradise Hotel” Winner Acquitted in Prize Money Dispute with Ex-Girlfriend

David Jarsbo, a former winner of “Paradise Hotel,” has been acquitted in a case concerning whether he was obligated to share his prize money with his ex-girlfriend and former co-participant, Sille Nimholm. The Western High Court reported this decision on Tuesday.

The legal battle between the former couple began four years ago. Nimholm believed she was promised half of the 500,000 kroner prize Jarsbo won when they jointly won the reality show in 2021.

During the show’s final loyalty test, Jarsbo chose to keep the entire prize for himself. Nimholm claimed she had been promised half of the money. The dispute between them also involved accusations of drug abuse, infidelity, and broken promises.

Initially, Jarsbo confirmed to media outlets that they would “of course share the money” upon returning to Denmark. However, he reportedly changed his mind after their breakup.

Following the breakup, Nimholm accused Jarsbo of infidelity and drug abuse. The civil lawsuit also included a defamation claim.

Last year, the Aarhus Court initially ruled in favor of Nimholm. The court stated that she was entitled to a portion of the prize and ordered Jarsbo to pay her 107,500 kroner. Jarsbo appealed this verdict to the High Court.

Nimholm had sought half of the 500,000 kroner prize, while Jarsbo demanded 50,000 kroner from her for defamation.

The Western High Court has now overturned the previous ruling, acquitting Jarsbo and ordering Nimholm to pay him 20,000 kroner in compensation for moral damages.

Nimholm’s lawyer, Nicholas Ørum Keller, indicated that the case might not be over. He stated they are considering seeking permission to appeal the case to the Supreme Court, noting the unique legal aspects of the case.
