Former national handball player Joachim Boldsen is running in the upcoming municipal election on November 18th for the Conservative party in Hørsholm Municipality. The 47-year-old Boldsen’s candidacy comes at the invitation of the current mayor, Morten Slotved, who remains the party’s top candidate.
Boldsen stated his motivation stems from a desire to shape the municipality and improve opportunities for young people, given he has three school-aged children. His key issues are children and young people, as well as culture and sports, focusing on both grassroots and elite levels.
Mayor Morten Slotved revealed he has been encouraging Boldsen to run for several years. Boldsen acknowledges that politics can be a “fight” but hopes to foster a more collaborative environment.
After his handball career, Boldsen transitioned to roles as a TV host and handball expert. Currently, he works as an independent HR consultant, assisting small and medium-sized businesses and leading management courses. As a player, he played 186 national matches and scored 405 goals from 1998 to 2008 for Denmark. He played for various clubs, including SG Flensburg-Handewitt in Germany and FC Barcelona in Spain.
Boldsen will be candidate number 13 out of 15 on the Conservative list. The mayor indicated that more candidates may be added. Recently, Boldsen appeared on TV 2 as a participant in the program “Spillet.”
