A 27-year-old former employee of the Municipality of Copenhagen has been remanded in custody for four weeks following a judge’s determination of reasonable suspicion of his involvement in attempted murder and extortion. The judge cited the risk of the suspect influencing the ongoing investigation as the reason for the custody order.
The man faces several charges, including unauthorized access to the personal information of 1,742 individuals. He is also accused of complicity in extortion, specifically obtaining and sharing sensitive data like CPR numbers and addresses of 66 people via Telegram and Signal. Furthermore, he is charged with complicity in an attempted murder that occurred in Herning last year, allegedly by providing information about the intended victim.
The accused has partially admitted to unauthorized access to the information of the 1,742 citizens. However, he denies any involvement in the attempted murder and extortion charges.
