A 27-year-old former employee of the Municipality of Copenhagen has been arrested and charged with misusing the Central Person Register (CPR) by accessing the CPR numbers of 1,742 individuals. The information was revealed during a preliminary hearing in the Copenhagen City Court earlier today.

The suspect, who cannot be named due to a court order, pleads partially guilty to sharing personal data obtained from the CPR register. However, he denies any involvement in extortion or attempted murder, which are additional charges he faces.

The judge has ordered a publication ban on the suspect’s name and has closed the courtroom doors to the public, citing the “extremely serious charge” as the reason.
