The Danish Tax Assessment Agency has begun sending out information for the final 2022 property assessments to homeowners. These assessments will replace the preliminary 2022 assessments used to calculate property taxes in 2024.
Following the release of the final 2022 assessments, the agency will recalculate and adjust property taxes and tax discounts for 2024, potentially resulting in additional payments or refunds for homeowners.
Homeowners who receive the 2022 assessment declaration are advised to carefully review the provided information for any inaccuracies or omissions. They have a four-week window to submit any objections. After this period, the Danish Tax Assessment Agency will finalize the assessment.
According to a press release, the agency is initially sending declarations to a “smaller group of homeowners” to ensure the process runs smoothly before a broader distribution planned for the summer.
Anne-Sofie Jensen, Director of the Danish Tax Assessment Agency, stated that this initial rollout allows them to verify the system’s functionality before commencing mass mailings.
