Fire in Skagen Plantation Under Control

The fire in Skagen Klitplantage is now under control and poses no further risk of spreading, according to Claus Bisgaard Hermansen, operations manager at North Jutland Emergency Services. Observation of the affected area will continue through the night, with a reduced team of firefighters remaining on site.

Between 30 and 40 firefighters will work overnight to fully extinguish the blaze. Earlier on Tuesday evening, approximately 90 personnel were present. Authorities anticipate resuming more intensive extinguishing efforts in the morning.

The fire, which broke out on Monday afternoon south of Skagen, prompted concerns earlier on Tuesday that strong winds could reignite and spread the flames. To prevent this, additional personnel were brought in from three North Jutland fire stations to establish stop belts.

Stop belts, consisting of five to ten meter wide areas saturated with water, were strategically placed to contain the fire. Hermansen estimates that complete extinguishment will take approximately 24 hours.

More than 100 permanent employees, volunteers, and conscripts from the Emergency Management Agency North Jutland, Central Jutland, South Jutland, Zealand, and Bornholm have been involved in the firefighting efforts. The Emergency Management Agency shared this information in a post on the social media platform X. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and no injuries have been reported.
