Fire in Skagen Plantation largely under control

The fire in Skagen Klitplantage is largely under control as of Saturday morning, with minimal smoke or active fire locations. Incident commander Claus Bisgaard Hermansen from the North Jutland Fire Department reported that while crews remain on site to monitor and rapidly address any flare-ups, significant progress has been made in extinguishing the blaze.

Despite high temperatures forecasted for the region, reaching up to 24 degrees Celsius in Skagen, the risk of renewed outbreaks persists. Firefighters will maintain a presence in the area for an extended period to mitigate this risk.

Approximately 35 personnel from the Emergency Management Agency and North Jutland Fire Department are involved in the ongoing operation. The large number of personnel is necessary due to the strenuous nature of the cleanup efforts and the extensive area affected by the fire.

The fire initially broke out on Monday afternoon, consuming an estimated 27 hectares of the nature area. Emergency services are utilizing drones equipped with heat-seeking cameras to identify potential hotspots and prevent further spread.

When heat sources are detected, firefighters promptly extinguish any flames or embers to prevent them from escalating.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined.

Authorities have confirmed that no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident. North Jutland Police have urged anyone with information relevant to the investigation to come forward.
