Fire at Nursing Home in Suldrup Under Control After Evacuation

A fire at a nursing home in Suldrup, Himmerland, is now under control following extensive firefighting efforts. All residents and staff were successfully evacuated, and no injuries have been reported.

The North Jutland Police announced on social media platform X that while the fire is contained, significant extinguishing operations are still ongoing at the location. The blaze, which ignited in the roof structure, prompted a rapid response from emergency services.

Authorities initially dispatched fire trucks from Støvring, equipped with sprayers and water tankers, after the alarm was raised at 13:31. Additional support arrived from fire stations in Aars, Nibe, and Aalborg as the fire intensified, engulfing the entire roof structure.

According to initial reports, roofing work involving torch-on roofing felt had been taking place at the nursing home. However, the precise cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Rebild Municipality, which owns the nursing home housing 31 residents, is actively working to relocate those displaced by the fire. Plans are underway to reopen a previously closed nursing home within the municipality to accommodate 15 to 20 residents.

Center manager for care and nursing, Birgitta Sloth, estimates that approximately one-third of the nursing home has been affected by the fire. It is anticipated that the remaining residents will be able to return to their apartments once the site is deemed safe.
