Twelve drivers in the Copenhagen West area have been fined and faced driving disqualifications for driving with iced-up windshields during the winter period. The Copenhagen West Police announced the penalties on social media platform X, highlighting the dangers of impaired visibility.
Each of the twelve drivers received a fine of 2500 kroner for failing to properly clear their windshields before driving. The incidents occurred on various days throughout the winter season.
In addition to the fines, the drivers were also handed driving disqualifications. Most of these disqualifications were conditional, meaning the drivers can regain their licenses upon passing a new driving test.
However, a 48-year-old man from Hvidovre received an unconditional driving ban due to prior traffic violations. He was stopped by police on Brostykkevej outside Avedøre School on February 17.
A 47-year-old woman was also convicted of driving with insufficient visibility near Avedøre School. The remaining cases originated from traffic stops in Ishøj, Ballerup, Taastrup, Vallensbæk, Albertslund, and Rødovre.
Prosecutor Freja Rasmussen of the Copenhagen West Police emphasized the risk to other road users posed by reduced visibility. She stated on X that driving with obstructed vision warrants significant penalties.
