FC Nordsjælland will need to find a replacement for their veteran defender and captain, Kian Hansen, within the next month and a half. Hansen is retiring at his own request when the transfer window closes on September 2nd.
Hansen will transition to a new role within the club, becoming the assistant coach for FC Nordsjælland’s U19 team. He stated that he feels it is the right time to pursue new aspirations, with coaching being a long-held interest. He also acknowledged the significant responsibility of being an assistant coach for the U19 team.
Football director Alexander Riget expressed his satisfaction that Hansen will remain available for the first seven rounds of the season. Riget noted the uncertainty inherent in the transfer window period and emphasized the value of having Hansen’s continued presence and support for the Superliga team during this time.
Midfielder Mark Brink has been named the new captain of FC Nordsjælland, effective immediately, following Hansen’s departure.
