FC Midtjylland Coach Thomas Thomasberg Says Goodbye with Victory Over Brøndby

FC Midtjylland (FCM) secured a 3-1 away win against Brøndby in their Superliga match, marking coach Thomas Thomasberg’s farewell game. The victory puts FCM in second place, just one point behind FC Copenhagen, remaining the only undefeated team in the Superliga.

Thomasberg’s departure was announced unexpectedly just two days prior, with the Brøndby match designated as his last. Despite the circumstances, he maintained professionalism and tactical focus throughout the game.

In the final moments, Brøndby’s Sho Fukuda equalized, bringing the score to 1-1. However, FCM responded with two goals in added time, with Dario Osorio scoring to make it 2-1, and shortly after, Denil Castillo sealed the victory at 3-1.

Brøndby, coached by Frederik Birk, faced a difficult week, suffering three consecutive defeats. This followed losses to Sønderjyske last weekend and to Strasbourg in the Europa League. The defeat to FCM was especially painful, considering FCM is a direct rival in the medal battle.

The first goal of the match came after an hour, with FCM capitalizing on a counter-attack. Aral Simsir scored, demonstrating excellent kicking technique, after taking over the ball from Denil Castillo. Philip Billing played his debut for FCM.
