Expected Widespread Rain and Risk of Thunderstorms Across Denmark on Thursday

Denmark is bracing for a day of widespread rain on Thursday, with some regions under risk warnings for heavy downpours and thunderstorms. The eastern regions of Zealand, including Lolland, Falster, and Møn, face a risk of heavy rain, with potential accumulations of 25 to 35 millimeters in six hours.

In northern Jutland, there is a risk of thunderstorms and local cloudbursts, with the possibility of 15 to 25 millimeters of rain falling in just 30 minutes. As of Thursday morning, Bornholm is the only area covered by an official DMI warning.

The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) is closely monitoring the situation, noting that even slight shifts in the weather patterns could alter the intensity of the rainfall in the eastern regions. The exact path and speed of the showers remain uncertain.

The risk warnings are in effect from Thursday afternoon through the evening.

The weather may impact outdoor events in Copenhagen, including Ed Sheeran’s concert in Øresundsparken and the DHL Relay race in Fælledparken, and attendees should be prepared for possible rainfall.
