The Danish Road Directorate anticipates significant traffic congestion across Denmark this Saturday, particularly between 11 AM and 3 PM, as holidaymakers travel to and from vacation destinations. This projection aligns with typical summer holiday traffic patterns.
Karina Svendsen of the Danish Road Directorate advises travelers to consider adjusting their departure times to avoid the peak hours of 11 AM to 3 PM. Leaving before 11 AM or after 3 PM could significantly reduce the risk of encountering traffic jams.
The areas most likely to experience heavy traffic include the Funen Motorway (Fynske Motorvej), the West Motorway (Vestmotorvejen), the region around Kolding, and routes to and from the Danish-German border. Additionally, holiday home areas may see increased traffic due to Saturday being a common changeover day for rentals.
While the morning is currently calm, travelers heading to Germany should be aware of potential delays around Hamburg. Specifically, the A7 motorway at the Schnelsen tunnel near Hamburg is closed all weekend. For information on German road conditions, drivers are advised to consult German authorities and the German motorists’ association, Adac.
The Danish Road Directorate forecasts that the risk of traffic jams and extended travel times will remain high on Saturdays through week 31. Moderate holiday traffic is also expected on Sundays between 12 PM and 4 PM.
