Martin Thorborg, a Danish entrepreneur, has taken extensive measures to prepare his family for potential crises, citing increasing global instability and the need for personal responsibility. Thorborg, known for his directness, criticizes Danes who haven’t prepared, calling them “irresponsible babies.” He emphasizes that his preparedness isn’t about paranoia but about being a responsible adult and part of the solution.
The family’s preparations include solar panels with an “island” function and an emergency battery, 50 liters of water and a water purifier, a Starlink satellite internet connection, a car radio, a wood stove with extra firewood, and a gas grill with spare gas bottles. They also have iodine tablets and have discussed a backup plan with their neighbor, who has a basement.
Thorborg clarifies that he is not a “prepper” obsessed with extreme scenarios like conventional warfare. His focus is on being able to manage for a few days in situations like power outages, cyberattacks, or supply chain disruptions. He acknowledges the importance of communication and has even provided Starlink connections for his company’s management team. While he hopes his preparations are never needed, he views them as a sensible precaution.
