The Eastern High Court has affirmed the decision to release ten men who are implicated in a case concerning the continuation of the banned gang Bandidos. This ruling supports the earlier decision made by the Court in Glostrup, which released the men after they had been in pre-trial detention for almost two months.
The ten men, allegedly affiliated with Bandidos and including several leading members according to the National Unit for Special Crime, face charges for allegedly participating in monthly meetings where Bandidos’ activities were discussed, despite a temporary ban on the gang that has been in effect since May of the previous year. The charges relate to four specific meetings where the men are accused of participating in one or more.
These meetings reportedly took place at a restaurant in Ishøj and an inn in Horsens, where discussions about Bandidos’ operations and activities allegedly occurred. The men were apprehended at the inn in Horsens on April 1 and subsequently brought before a preliminary hearing.
Prior to their initial release, the pre-trial detention had been extended multiple times. However, the city court judge ultimately ordered their release last week, citing doubts that the potential sentence would justify their continued pre-trial detention. The men maintain their innocence, and a name ban is in place to protect their identities, restricting the disclosure of their roles within the motorcycle club.
The temporary ban on Bandidos will remain in effect until the court determines whether the gang should be dissolved permanently. The ongoing court case, being heard at the Court in Helsingør, is expected to conclude with the final hearing in August, after which it may proceed to the High Court and potentially the Supreme Court.
