Eastern High Court Experiencing Significant Delays

The Eastern High Court is currently facing substantial delays in processing appealed criminal cases, with waiting times exceeding two years in several instances. This backlog is impacting the judicial process and causing extended periods before cases are heard.

A case concerning serious crime related to the cloning of luxury cars, known as “Operation Dolly,” exemplifies the delays. The original verdict was delivered by the Court in Helsingør on September 26, 2024, but the appeal case is not scheduled to begin in the High Court until February 10, 2027.

Similarly, an attempted murder case involving gang activity saw a life sentence handed down by the Copenhagen City Court on November 8, 2024. The appeal in the High Court is not set to commence until March 2, 2027.

In another instance, managers from a media company charged with fraud related to corona support received their verdict from the Copenhagen City Court on December 12, 2024. The High Court is scheduled to address the appeal on October 27, 2027.

A social worker charged with abuse of position involving numerous unauthorized searches on citizens was acquitted by the Court in Lyngby on September 24, 2024. The High Court has scheduled the appeal for November 24, 2026.

A police officer charged with possessing photos of body parts received a verdict from the Copenhagen City Court on January 31, 2024. The High Court has allocated February 3rd and 4th, 2026, for the appeal.

A businessman from Funen (Fyn) charged with fraud amounting to six million received his verdict from the Court in Odense on August 9, 2024. The appeal case is scheduled to begin in the High Court on August 11, 2027.

A local politician charged with money laundering was given a verdict by the Court in Hillerød on March 1, 2024. The High Court is set to address the appeal on October 13, 2026.

Lastly, a farmer charged with irresponsible treatment of pigs received a verdict from the Court in Holbæk on June 12, 2024. The High Court has scheduled the appeal for August 24, 2026.
