A 26-year-old man was sentenced to two years and six months in prison on Thursday by the Court in Aarhus for negligent manslaughter in connection with the deaths of two young women who died after he supplied them with narcotics. The man, Mo Noury, will appeal the verdict to the High Court of Western Denmark, according to his lawyer, Niels Lyhne.
The two women, aged 18 and 23, died in July and September 2023 after ingesting a lethal amount of pills, with one woman also using cocaine. The deaths occurred in Noury’s apartment in Brabrand.
Initially, police had considered murder charges, but the final charges were for negligent manslaughter under particularly aggravating circumstances and for intentionally endangering the women. During the trial, Noury pleaded not guilty.
Noury had admitted to selling pills to the women and others, describing parties where he and the women stayed awake for days using pills and drugs. He denied pressuring the women to take excessive amounts. “I haven’t put anything in anyone’s mouth. The girls chose to take it themselves,” he stated in court.
Special Prosecutor Jesper Rubow expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision, calling the case deeply unfortunate due to the loss of two young lives. The victims’ families have been awarded compensation of approximately 113,000 and 123,000 kroner, respectively.
