Dog Rescued From Island in Limfjord

A distressed dog was rescued from a small island in the Limfjord Friday evening after swimming to it. North Jutland Emergency Services successfully retrieved the dog from the island, located northwest of Egholm and south of Aalborg Airport.

The rescue operation was initiated after a kayaker spotted the dog on one of the islets and contacted the authorities. Aalborg emergency services dispatched a boat to the island to bring the dog back to the mainland.

Upon its return, the dog was given food at the police station and then taken to a shelter.

Police efforts to locate the owner are ongoing. The dog, described as a large, black, poodle-like breed, could not be identified via its microchip.

The distance from the mainland to the island is estimated to be about one kilometer. The dog is reported to be doing well despite its ordeal.

The origin of the dog and the reason for its journey to the island remain unknown.
