Denmark Observes Flag Day Honoring Deployed Personnel

Denmark commemorates Flag Day on September 5th, a day dedicated to honoring individuals who have been deployed on behalf of the country. The annual observance recognizes the service and sacrifice of those who have served, as well as remembering those who have lost their lives in service.

Prince Joachim highlighted the significance of the Dannebrog (Danish flag) as a symbol of unity and respect for all who have worn it while serving. His statement underscores the importance of the flag as a reminder of the collective willingness to stand together in support of Denmark’s missions.

The tradition of marking Flag Day began in 2009, and this year marks the 17th time the nation has flown the Dannebrog in recognition of deployed personnel. The day serves as an official occasion to express gratitude and pay tribute to the contributions of those who have served Denmark.
