Denmark Extends Special Law for Ukrainian Refugees Until 2027

Denmark has extended its special law for Ukrainian refugees until March 2027, allowing them to continue working, attending school, and accessing healthcare services. The decision, announced Friday, aligns with the EU’s extension of similar temporary protection rules for Ukrainians.

The extension of the law, initially passed in March 2022, ensures continued support for Ukrainians who fled the war. The Danish government emphasized the importance of European countries standing together to support those displaced by the conflict in Ukraine.

Minister for Immigration and Integration Kaare Dybvad Bek (S) stated that the extension is crucial given the ongoing situation in Ukraine. While Denmark isn’t bound by EU rules in this area due to its legal relationship, the decision reflects a commitment to supporting Ukrainian refugees.
