Denmark Experiences Decreasing Rainfall After Heavy Downpours

Denmark is experiencing a respite from the heavy rainfall of recent days, although scattered showers, particularly in Jutland, are still anticipated before drier weather sets in. The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) reports that the worst of the rain has passed.

The weather front responsible for the recent heavy rainfall has moved south of the country. While showers are expected throughout the day, they will not be as intense as those experienced in recent days.

North, Central, and West Jutland are most likely to experience showers on Wednesday afternoon, with a possibility of thunder. North Jutland faces the highest risk of showers. There remains a slight chance that some showers could bring up to 15 millimeters of rain in half an hour, potentially leading to cloudbursts, although DMI anticipates that most will stay below this threshold.

DMI lifted its warning for heavy rain on Wednesday night after two days of substantial rainfall across Denmark. Several areas recorded over 100 millimeters of rain on Tuesday afternoon, with Møn experiencing nearly 150 millimeters. This is more than the average rainfall for the entire month of July, which is 65.8 millimeters.

Rainfall overnight on Wednesday was not extreme, remaining relatively calm compared to recent conditions. The areas that received the most rain overnight were not the same areas that experienced the heaviest rainfall previously.

Looking ahead, the meteorologist forecasts more dry weather. Although Thursday afternoon may bring more showers, the outlook suggests a significant decrease in showers after Thursday, with only two more days of lighter showers expected.
