Decline in Boundary-Crossing Behavior Among Danish Athletes for Third Consecutive Year

The proportion of Danish athletes reporting experiences of boundary-crossing behavior has decreased for the third consecutive year, according to the annual well-being survey conducted by the Sports Analysis Institute on behalf of Team Denmark.

The 2024 survey reveals that 14 percent of athletes reported experiencing boundary-crossing behavior. This represents a continued decline from 17 percent in 2022 and 15 percent in 2023.

The reported experiences primarily involve comments about body and weight from coaches, leaders, and fellow athletes, as well as instances of aggressive or threatening behavior from coaches and leaders.

The Sports Analysis Institute suggests that the surveys conducted over the past three years indicate positive cultural improvements within elite sports since the initial well-being survey in 2021.

Despite the progress, the survey highlights the need for further attention to existing problems, particularly concerning the relationships among the athletes themselves.
