DAO, a distribution company, is poised to become Denmark’s new postal service provider when the state-owned PostNord ceases its letter delivery services at the end of the year. Recent performance data suggests that this transition may not negatively impact postal delivery standards.
A new assessment by the Danish Transport Authority reveals that DAO successfully delivered 99% of its letters within five days. In contrast, PostNord achieved this timeframe for only 90% of its deliveries.
This marks a substantial improvement for DAO, which achieved an 88% on-time delivery rate in a similar assessment conducted in December.
Line Elikofer, head of the postal area at the Danish Transport Authority, expressed satisfaction with these findings.
“The survey demonstrates that both DAO and PostNord are effectively delivering mail,” she stated. “DAO’s notable improvement in delivery time suggests that the company has stabilized its operations as a nationwide distributor.”
“From the perspective of the postal authority, this is a positive development,” she added.
The Danish Transport Authority conducted the latest assessment by dispatching 2,616 standard letters to recipients across Denmark.
Recipients then reported the date on which they received their letters.
DAO handled half of the sent letters, while PostNord handled the other half.
