The Danish U21 national team mounted an impressive comeback to defeat Wales 6-2 in their European Championship qualifying match. After falling behind 2-0 early in the game, the young Danes rallied with five second-half goals from five different players to secure a dominant victory.
The match marked a successful competitive debut for Lars Knudsen as coach, following his appointment this summer. The victory signifies a promising start to their campaign for the European Championship.
Wales took an early lead with a goal from Tanatswa Nyakuhwa within the first minute. Nyakuhwa capitalized on a defensive miscue to put the home side ahead. The situation worsened for Denmark when Chris Popov doubled Wales’ lead after half an hour. Popov finished off a well-placed pass to extend their advantage.
However, Denmark began to find their rhythm, with Thomas Jørgensen scoring to reduce the deficit. Clement Bischoff provided the assist for Jørgensen’s goal, injecting confidence into the Danish team.
The second half saw a complete turnaround. Adam Daghim equalized shortly after the restart, and Conrad Harder put Denmark ahead. Bischoff once again played a key role, assisting Harder’s go-ahead goal.
Oscar Schwartau, August Priske, and Silas Andersen added further goals to seal the victory for Denmark. Their goals solidified Denmark’s dominance in the latter stages of the match.
