Five Danish teams have reached the Champions League group stage. AaB participated twice, first in 1995/96 and again in 2008/09. In their second appearance, they finished third in their group and advanced to the UEFA Cup, where they were defeated by Manchester City in the round of 16 after a penalty shootout.
Brøndby competed in the Champions League in 1998/99. Despite a promising start with a 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich, they did not secure any further wins in a challenging group that included Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Barcelona.
FC Nordsjælland qualified for the 2012/13 Champions League group stage after winning the Danish championship in 2012. They earned one point in a tough group featuring Juventus, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Chelsea.
FC Midtjylland became the fifth Danish team to reach the Champions League group stage in the 2020/21 season. They finished fourth in a group with Liverpool, Atalanta, and Ajax, earning two points.
