Danish Social Media Platform Meningspunktet Postpones Launch Until After Summer

The launch of Meningspunktet, a new Danish social media platform, has been delayed until early August due to overwhelming interest. Co-founder Tue Oxenvad announced the postponement, initially set for June 17th.

The platform experienced significant interest from potential users wanting to contribute to its development. The company received a large number of requests for its citizen panel.

Over 5,000 individuals signed up for the waiting list before June 17th and those users will now be able to beta test the platform during the summer. More than 100 people have joined the citizen panel, which provides feedback for improvements.

Meningspunktet utilizes this voluntary citizen panel to gather ongoing feedback and suggestions for the platform’s development.

The concept behind Meningspunktet is to focus on local content, connecting users with information and opportunities within their municipality. According to Oxenvad, the platform saves users’ municipality and full name to provide relevant local content, including opinions, job postings, and offers.

Oxenvad conceived the idea for Meningspunktet in 2011, driven by his reservations about Facebook’s operations. The platform has already gained 5,000 users without any marketing expenses.
