These preliminary valuations precede final valuations and potential tax adjustments.

Homeowners will first receive a declaration, followed by the final valuation, and then an adjustment of taxes if necessary. This allows homeowners to review the information used to determine their 2022 valuations and raise any objections during a four-week consultation period.

The initial dispatches are being carefully managed to ensure a smooth process before being ramped up towards the summer. The first valuations will target owners of detached houses, terraced houses, and summer houses, with apartment owners receiving theirs later.

Following the 2022 valuations, the agency plans to quickly issue 2024 valuations using a mathematical projection based on 2022 figures and house price developments from Statistics Denmark. The aim is to bring the property valuations back on track, with the director emphasizing the agency’s commitment to completing the necessary steps as quickly as possible.

The previous property valuation system was suspended in 2013 due to flaws, and the new system, established in 2018, has faced criticism for errors and delays. The director acknowledges these issues and emphasizes the agency’s commitment to learning from mistakes and restoring trust in the system.

While currently supported by additional tax employees, the agency anticipates becoming smaller in the long term as it seeks to improve efficiency.
