Per Kauczki, one half of the popular Danish musical duo Lis & Per, has passed away at the age of 85. The news was confirmed by his family in an email to Ritzau.
Kauczki’s death marks the end of a remarkable musical journey that spanned over four decades. Lis & Per were known for their numerous recordings and performances, both in Denmark and internationally.
Beyond their musical partnership, Per and Lis shared a deep and enduring love story. Their relationship began over 70 years ago when Per walked Lis home from a youth club in Silkeborg. They became a couple, eventually marrying and raising three children, later welcoming grandchildren and great-grandchildren into their family.
Alongside his musical career, Per Kauczki was also a ladies’ hairdresser, running his own salon with his wife, Lis. Later in life, they chose to dedicate themselves fully to music, achieving their breakthrough in 1989 with the release of the album “Vore allerbedste år”.
Tragically, the couple was involved in a traffic accident just two weeks prior to Per’s passing, when they were struck by a bus.
