Frederikshavn will host the Danish Melodi Grand Prix and the children’s MGP in 2026. DR (Danish Broadcasting Corporation) announced that the events will take place in Arena Nord.
The Danish Melodi Grand Prix is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, and the children’s version will follow on Saturday, February 21. The city plans to organize various events and activities during the two weeks leading up to the Grand Prix. More details about these activities will be released later in the year.
Karsten Thomsen, the Mayor of Frederikshavn Municipality, expressed his enthusiasm about hosting the events, noting the positive impact on local businesses. He emphasized that it will be a fantastic experience for everyone in the municipality, fostering a sense of community.
This year, Sissal, a Faroese singer, won the Danish Melodi Grand Prix with her song “Hallucination”. She represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest final for the first time since 2019, ultimately finishing in 23rd place.
The boy group Tempo won the children’s MGP this year with the song “Lyst til at Hop”.
