Johan Hansen, a multiple world champion, is returning to Denmark to play for Skanderborg AGF (SAH) in the Danish handball league. The club announced the signing of the 31-year-old right winger to a three-year contract on its website Monday.
Hansen’s return marks a significant milestone for SAH, according to director Mads Lind, who emphasized the player’s world-class talent and the strong culture he brings to the team.
The Faroes native has played in the Bundesliga since 2020, first with Hannover-Burgdorf and then with Flensburg-Handewitt. Prior to his time in Germany, Hansen played for Bjerringbro-Silkeborg Håndbold.
Hansen has a history with Skanderborg, having played his first senior league games with the team. This connection played a role in his decision to return. Hansen stated that he carefully considered opportunities both in Denmark and abroad but ultimately chose SAH due to the overall package it offered.
Hansen aims to contribute to the club’s continued development and is excited to be part of their journey.
