Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen has summoned a top American diplomat following reports of concerning activities by American individuals in Greenland. The Foreign Ministry announced the summons to Ritzau on Wednesday.
The move comes amid growing awareness of foreign interest in Greenland and its strategic importance within the Kingdom of Denmark. Rasmussen emphasized that any attempts to interfere in the Kingdom’s internal affairs would be considered unacceptable.
The Foreign Minister stated he has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to call in the American chargé d’affaires for a meeting at Asiatisk Plads. This meeting is intended to address the concerns raised by recent reports.
Rasmussen noted the increasing attention from foreign actors towards Greenland’s position within the Kingdom.
