Danish Foreign Minister Condemns the Murder of Two Israeli Embassy Employees in Washington D.C.

The Danish Foreign Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, has condemned the murder of two employees of the Israeli embassy in Washington D.C., which occurred on Wednesday night, Danish time. The government is prepared to increase security measures if deemed necessary.

Rasmussen expressed his dismay, stating that it is appalling for individuals serving in diplomacy to lose their lives to violence. The shooting took place near the Capital Jewish Museum in the American capital.

The Foreign Minister conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims and to Israel, emphasizing that such incidents are unacceptable. He attributed the act to the rising antisemitism observed globally, including in Denmark.

Rasmussen noted that security around Jewish communities in Denmark and the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen is already at a high level. However, he did not dismiss the possibility of implementing additional security measures in the future.

The Foreign Minister affirmed the ongoing dialogue between the government, the Jewish community, and the Israeli embassy. He emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting the Jewish community and its willingness to take further action if required.
