Danish Foreign Minister Condemns Murder of Israeli Embassy Employees, Considers Increased Security

The Danish government is prepared to increase security measures following the fatal shooting of two employees at the Israeli embassy in Washington D.C., according to Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. The incident, which occurred late Wednesday American time near the Capital Jewish Museum, has drawn strong condemnation.

Lars Løkke Rasmussen expressed his outrage and conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims and to the State of Israel. He emphasized that such an act should never occur and described it as a manifestation of the rising anti-Semitism observed globally, including in Denmark.

The Foreign Minister stated that security is already heightened around Jewish communities in Denmark and the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen. However, he did not dismiss the possibility of implementing further security enhancements if deemed necessary.

The Danish government maintains open communication with both the Jewish Community and the Israeli embassy, with a particular focus on safeguarding the Jewish Community. Lars Løkke Rasmussen affirmed the government’s commitment to taking additional measures should the situation warrant it.
