Nadia Nadim, the prominent Danish football player, is transferring to HB Køge on a one-year contract, marking her return to Danish A-League football. The club officially announced the signing on its website.
The 37-year-old striker brings a wealth of experience to HB Køge, having previously played for renowned clubs such as AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, and teams in the USA. Most recently, she was on loan to Swedish club Hammarby for six months.
Nadim expressed her enthusiasm about returning to Danish football and joining HB Køge, stating she is incredibly happy to be part of what HB Køge Women has built. She is determined to contribute to the club’s ambitions and help maintain its top position both in Denmark and internationally.
HB Køge head coach Kristian Mørch highlighted Nadim’s unique ability to score goals and create chances, as well as the mentality and winning culture she brings to the squad.
Nadim’s career includes 108 appearances for the Danish national team, where she scored 38 goals. Though she retired from the national team after this summer’s European Championship finals, she helped secure a European Championship silver medal in 2017.
Born in Afghanistan and obtaining Danish citizenship in 2008 while playing for IK Skovbakken, Nadim later played for Fortuna Hjørring before moving abroad. In addition to her football achievements, Nadia Nadim has also earned a medical degree.
