Danish Football Club FC Midtjylland Aims for Fifth Championship and a Star on Their Logo

FC Midtjylland is on the verge of securing its fifth Danish championship, a feat that would allow the club to display a star above its logo, a symbol of prestige in Danish football. The club’s fate hinges on both their own performance and that of league leaders FC Copenhagen in the final round of matches.

Experienced goalkeeper Jonas Lössl emphasized the significance of potentially earning the club’s first star, highlighting its importance to the team and its history. For the young Midtjylland club, the symbolic marking will be a milestone in the club’s history.

Ten Danish clubs currently have at least one star above their logo, with FC Copenhagen and its predecessor KB leading with three stars each (15 championships). Brøndby has two stars (11 championships), while AB, B.93, B1903, Frem, Esbjerg, AGF, and Vejle each have one.

FC Midtjylland currently sits one point behind FC Copenhagen in the league table. To clinch the title, they must win their match against Randers and hope that FC Copenhagen stumbles in their game against FC Nordsjælland.

The opportunity to earn a star is a rare and significant achievement for Danish clubs, with the last championship among the single-star teams dating back to 1986 (AGF). AB and B.93, with nine championships each, are the closest to earning a second star, but they do not currently play in the Superliga.
