Danish Designer Defends China and Criticizes Western Perceptions

Danish designer Timothy Jacob Jensen has defended China’s actions and criticized Western perspectives, stating that China is “doing excellently” while the West is “doing quite poorly.” His comments come amidst scrutiny over his appearances on China Global News Television (CGTN), a channel widely regarded as state propaganda.

Jensen refuted claims that his appearances on CGTN constitute participation in propaganda, arguing that the Western world is fundamentally wrong in its perception that it is always right. He believes that China has achieved great things, such as lifting 600 million people out of poverty, and that the West can learn from their example.

When questioned about controversial issues such as China’s threats against Taiwan and the suppression of Uighurs, Jensen dismissed them as “strange babble” and questioned the reliability of Western media reports. He suggested that the United States has its own problems, such as poverty and violence, and that these issues should also be considered.

Despite acknowledging concerns about China’s human rights record, Jensen emphasized the country’s economic progress and its efforts to build and invest. He believes that China is doing well for its people and the world, and that Western critics are unfairly focused on the negative aspects.

Jensen’s views reflect a growing sentiment among some Danes living or working in China, who feel that Western criticism of the country is one-sided and negative. He argues that global opinion is changing, and that many people now view China more favorably than the United States.

Berlingske’s investigation reveals that several prominent Danish figures, including business people and a consul general, have also appeared on CGTN programs, raising concerns about the channel’s influence and its potential to spread propaganda.
