Vivino, the world’s largest online wine marketplace, has received a 100 million kroner investment from Danish businessman Klaus Eldrup-Jørgensen and his partner Mads Munkholt Ditlevsen, through their company Caveau ApS. Eldrup-Jørgensen, ranked as Denmark’s 36th richest person, sees potential in Vivino’s brand and strategy.
The investment comes as Vivino ApS, known for its popular wine scanning app, grapples with profitability, reporting a loss of approximately 27 million kroner last year. While still a loss, this marks a significant improvement from the nearly 65 million kroner loss recorded the previous year.
Eldrup-Jørgensen expressed confidence in the company’s future direction. “Vivino has a fantastic brand and product. The strategy that has now been laid out seems very sensible. Therefore, I think it is a good time to invest in the company now,” he stated.
Vivino, which employs 300 people worldwide, had a negative equity of almost 380 million kroner in 2024. Eldrup-Jørgensen is primarily known for co-founding Trackman, a company specializing in radar systems widely used in golf, with his brother Morten Eldrup-Jørgensen. Trackman earned 417 million kroner last year.
