An 81-year-old man died in a traffic accident on Ordrupvej between Viborg and Ørum on Thursday morning, according to Central and West Jutland Police. The cyclist was struck by a car while attempting to cross the road.
The accident occurred on Main Road 16, where the speed limit is 80 kilometers per hour. Police indicate there is no evidence suggesting the driver was speeding. The driver was unable to brake in time to avoid the collision.
The alarm was raised shortly before 11 a.m., prompting a response from police and rescue services, including a medical helicopter. The road was temporarily closed in both directions to allow for an investigation by a car inspector.
Simon Stage, duty officer at Central and West Jutland Police, stated that the police are awaiting the results of the car inspector’s report before providing further details about the accident. The main road was reopened to traffic at approximately 1 p.m.
