Copenhagen Police have been acquitted in a case concerning the detention of five climate activists from the “Nødbremsen” (Emergency Brake) movement in the summer of 2024. The Eastern High Court ruled on Monday that the approximately four-hour detention of the activists by officers was legal.

The ruling comes after the activists’ attempt to block morning traffic on Vejlands Allé during a demonstration on June 21st last year, which resulted in significant traffic congestion.

Furthermore, the High Court judges found no evidence to support claims that two of the activists were subjected to strip searches during their detention. The court’s decision affirms the legality of the police intervention in response to the demonstration.
