Copenhagen Music Venue Cancels Rapper Miklo’s Concert After Antisemitic Remarks

The Copenhagen music venue Vega has canceled a concert by Danish rapper Miklo following accusations that he glorified Adolf Hitler and the Nazi genocide against Jews in a recently surfaced video. The concert was originally scheduled for November 29.

Vega stated in a press release that the decision to cancel was made due to a TikTok video where Miklo allegedly made antisemitic statements. The venue emphasized that such actions are illegal in Denmark.

In the video, Miklo is quoted as saying, “Controversial, as if I want to be on a blacklist, fuck Israel, everyone supports with their absence,” followed by “Heil Hitler, he understood that they should be gassed.”

Vega explained that while expressing distance from a regime or ideology is acceptable, attacking or demonizing an entire population group based on ethnicity, religion, or gender is not.

The venue emphasized that Miklo’s statement is incompatible with Vega’s values and its desire to provide a safe space for all guests and employees.

Miklo, whose real name is Anders Henckel Johansen, previously described the statements as “a small TikTok stunt” in a written response. He also denied supporting Nazism or Hitler.

In 2023, Miklo was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison for aggravated violence, deprivation of liberty, robbery, and extortion. He was convicted of involvement in an incident where three victims were attacked, chained to a radiator, and subjected to severe violence.

Miklo is known for songs such as “Hvad for noget,” “Shotta,” “Early Morning,” and “GENERATION GAZA.”
