According to Sparta Atletik & Løb, the popularity of the Copenhagen Marathon is due to several factors, including Copenhagen being a draw as a tourist destination. The organizers emphasize their dedication to investing significant resources into the event.

The event manager at Sparta Atletik & Løb, Lars Nissen, stated that the attractive nature of the city helps runners choose this marathon.

The Copenhagen Marathon was established in 1980 and has grown in popularity over the years. In the previous race, Berhane Tesfaye from Eritrea completed the marathon in 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 25 seconds.
