Construction of a new church has commenced in Copenhagen’s Ørestad district, marking the first newly built church in the city in three decades. The urban development company By & Havn announced the beginning of the project on Wednesday.
The church is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2026.
Anne Skovbro, CEO of By & Havn, emphasized the significance of the event for Ørestad, stating that the addition of a church signifies the district’s growing identity and its establishment as a community on par with other Copenhagen neighborhoods. She further noted the vital cultural role churches play in local communities, whether consciously recognized or not.
